Chief Oscar Mokeme
Chief. Oscar Ogugua Mokeme has been educating the communities of Maine and New England about African art and culture since 1989. Oscar's creates a unique learning experience by combining hands on learning using African objects and storytelling with a special a performance of Igbo masquerade. Oscar has taught a variety of workshops on African culture and art, including mask making, making power objects and toys, painting with sand, and creative dancing. All workshops combine story telling and are highlighted with a masquerade performance, where an African mask is brought to life for the group.
